UT Austin's School of Architecture is marking 50 years of teaching by Larry Speck and Michael Garrison. The school has awarded more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate architecture degrees since becoming independent in 1951, and Speck has taught more than 35,000 students during his UT career.

Speck's Austin projects include both phases of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Dell Medical School and the Capitol Mall. Garrison has focused on green building design, received grants from federal agencies including the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency, and worked with the DOE Solar Decathlon. He is also compiling thousands of sketches for an architecture guidebook.
