Austin area faces flood watch through Thursday evening

A flood watch covers the Austin area from 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday evening as heavy rain moves across parts of Texas. The National Weather Service warned that rivers, creeks, low water crossings and streets could flood.

Forecast totals include 2 to 6 inches of rain, with isolated parts of the state possibly reaching 10 inches. State emergency resources, including rescue boats and Black Hawk helicopters, have been activated as officials prepare for possible flash flooding.
