The Longhorns trailed 1 to 0 through four innings before a Texas Tech error with two outs and the bases loaded gave Texas a 2 to 1 lead. In the seventh, Kayden Henry hit a solo home run and Alisa Sneed scored as a pinch runner, pushing the final score to 4 to 1.

Pitcher Teagan Kavan entered in the sixth and faced six batters over two innings, striking out five and closing the game with a clean final inning. She was named the Women's College World Series most outstanding player for the second year in a row, the first player to win that honor in consecutive years.
