The Life Science Library began as the Library Extension and formed the central rooms of the Main Building and Tower project. Its Hall of the Six Coats of Arms, Hall of Noble Words and Hall of Texas still show much of the 1934 design, including marble walls, walnut ceiling panels, bronze chandeliers and the original circulation desk.

The article also traces later changes, including former card catalog space converted into seminar rooms and past alterations that were later reversed. For Austin readers, the piece offers a detailed look at a familiar UT landmark and how the university once used library space to define its academic identity.
