UT Austin graduate turns cancer research into biotech work
Milit Patel graduated from UT Austin after publishing cancer research and cofounding an AI focused biotech company. His undergraduate work included research at Dell Medical School and the Freshman Research Initiative.

Milit Patel arrived at UT Austin focused on science but unsure how much he would connect with others in research settings. Through the Freshman Research Initiative and later work in a cancer clinical genomics lab at Dell Medical School, the biochemistry major found both research training and a close peer community.
Patel was the lead researcher on a paper in Annals of Oncology that used machine learning to study cancer survival drivers across countries. After graduating in May as a Dean's Honored Graduate with Distinction in Research, he plans to work at an AI native biotech company he helped start.
